Bred By Nancy House (Highgate)
Owned by Dea Holt, Lauren Fortune & Margaret
He is a stunning dog with a very poodley capricious temperament, as a young pup he seemed 'to hot to handle'. The school loved him, they groomed and trained him every day. After he finished at the 'school' Terry Bernier became his handler and keeper. Dea missed him but was determined to give him the best of chances to show what he can do, we were all very impressed with her determination! He spent his early show career with Terry in Canada, growing coat and learning his craft. He attended a couple of shows in Canada as a young pup. His first US show was in Seattle where he got WD and one point, then at Bremerton on 25th March 2007 from the 6-9 month class he won his first major- a great result!!
Since then he has competed regularly at shows in British Columbia and the NW United States. He achieved his Canadian Championship at the beginning of June 2007 and was on his way towards his American title. We saw him again at PCA in June 2007 and were very impressed with his conformation and movement. His handler Terry said he was still unsettled in the ring but what we saw at PCA was very controlled and very smart.
Shortly after PCA it was decided that a local handler from Seattle should be contacted and eventually Michelle Slater became his handler. In early October he returned to the ring with Shelley and it was hoped that he would soon finish his American Championship.
In Jaunary 2008 we visited Seattle to meet up with friends and to see Beau at the three shows held at Puyallup. Dea told us that during the autumn he had lost a bit of coat and that it was now regrowing. On the first day he went Winners Dog and scored another point towards his Championship. We were impressed with him but he was still a little erratic on the move.
In Washington state, though there are shows almost every week the number of dogs and bitches being shown at each show was small, so his second major proved to be very elusive. Shelley guided him to many wins but he only slowly gained the points to his Championship. Finally in Alaska and handled by Candy Hume he finished his US Championship in August 2008. He then retired to become a much loved pet.
